A European identity at the heart of electric mobility
Although part of the Chinese giant Geely Auto, Zeekr defines itself first and foremost by its European roots. Founded in 2021, the brand has already delivered over 680,000 vehicles worldwide. “All our vehicles are conceived, imagined and designed in Gothenburg, Sweden, by Europeans for Europeans,” explains Rémy Aybaly. This strategy aims to meet the specific expectations of drivers on the Old Continent in terms of design, build quality and driving pleasure, moving away from the stereotypes sometimes associated with Asian manufacturing.
The aim is to win over the 75 to 80 per cent of motorists who have not yet made the switch to electric, in a context where electric vehicles now account for a quarter of new car registrations in France. “Our observation is simple: with established premium brands, switching to electric often means accepting a smaller vehicle or increasing your budget by 15 to 20 per cent. We offer the opposite,” explains Karim Zemani.
Zeekr is banking on a competitive price-to-specification ratio, without compromising on quality, to appeal to customers accustomed to the standards of German manufacturers.
A range designed for all uses
For its launch, Zeekr is rolling out four fully electric models covering all needs, from city driving to long-distance journeys. The range starts with the Zeekr X, a compact urban SUV that has been specifically updated for the French market, improving its finish and reducing its charging time. It is followed by the Zeekr 7X, a spacious family SUV described as a ‘game changer’ following its success in the Nordic countries in 2025.
For road enthusiasts, Zeekr offers the Zeekr 7GT, a large touring car with a sporty design, as well as the Zeekr 001, an elegant shooting brake serving as the flagship model. “These vehicles combine interior space, high-quality finish and some of the fastest charging times on the market,” explains Rémy Aybaly.
The focus is on energy efficiency and fast charging thanks to an 800V architecture, which allows a significant portion of the range to be restored during a short break. The brand is actively working on battery technologies designed to enable charging from 10% to 80% in around ten minutes using the most powerful charging infrastructure. In the longer term, Zeekr plans to expand its range with ‘super hybrid’ models offering extended range.
Technology, safety and local network
Zeekr has structured its offering to overcome the traditional barriers to electric vehicle adoption. Safety is paramount: all models have achieved a 5-star rating in Euro NCAP tests, with the Zeekr X achieving a record score of 93% in its category. “Passive and active safety is an absolute priority, drawing on Volvo’s expertise,” notes Rémy Aybaly. This confidence is reflected in an extended warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 km.
The brand offers a comprehensive digital ecosystem. The Zeekr Charge app, developed with PlugSurfing, provides access to over 900,000 charging points across Europe. A second app, Zeekr Companion, allows the vehicle to be managed remotely: locking, pre-heating or monitoring via on-board cameras. On board, an in-house developed audio system offers an immersive experience, with speakers in the front headrests to broadcast GPS instructions to the driver only.
To support this launch, Zeekr is relying on a network of partner dealerships. “By the end of 2026, we will have opened 25 sales outlets and twice as many after-sales service centres,” announced Rémy Aybaly. The first openings took place in Aix-en-Provence, followed by Paris, Lyon, Fréjus, Saint-Étienne and Rennes. “The idea is to reassure consumers about servicing and the availability of parts, which are stored in Europe near Amsterdam,” he adds.
