Van Bergen 1795, a name synonymous with acoustic mastery for over two centuries, will make its global debut in the field of watchmaking at Top Marques Monaco, which will be held from May 6 to 10 at the Grimaldi Forum. Renowned for its heritage in the manufacture of chimes and tower clocks, the Dutch brand is now venturing into fine watchmaking and will unveil its first Heero collection in the show’s expanded Watch and Jewellery Pavilion.
The Heero Collection pays tribute to Van Bergen’s 230-year history with a half-hourly chime complication that echoes the ringing of bells. CEO Erik Meijer, a trained percussionist, emphasized the importance of sound in their watches, stating, “A Van Bergen without sound would be a Van Bergen without soul.” The collection comprises 230 individually numbered pieces, including the Monaco edition, a tribute to the Principality, limited to 50 models in titanium and 9 in white gold.
As part of this launch, Van Bergen will present H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco with the first wristwatch from the Monaco edition. A second exclusive piece will be auctioned off to benefit the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, contributing to the funding of all its programs around the world.
Emeric Garcia, Director of Top Marques Monaco, said: “This transformation from bell tower manufacturing to luxury watches perfectly embodies the spirit of our event, where legendary craftsmanship meets contemporary excellence. Alongside Van Bergen, the event will showcase iconic automotive brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Bugatti, cementing its reputation as a leading platform for innovation in the luxury sector.
