Top Marques Monaco 2012 highlights

• 34,700 visitors to the 9th edition of the show (over four days 19-22 April)

• 245 million Euro in sales during the show and exhibitors anticipate a further 250 million Euro in sales post-show thanks to orders received for products not yet launched and follow up from interested clients who attended the show. This should propel Top Marques Monaco to become a half billion Euro show.

• VIP and celebrity visitors to the show included Top Marques Monaco’s patron H.S.H. Prince Albert II for the opening on Thursday 19th April 2012 at 11h, also Eddie Jordan, former F1 team owner, Tommy Hilfiger, Loris Capirossi, moto racing world champion, Sonny Anderson (former footballer player with AS Monaco who was a guest of DeLaVilla), TV star Pamela Anderson and football team AS Monaco President Dmitriy Rybolovlev.

• Top Marques Monaco 2012 spearheaded the car industry into new territory this month. Among the supercar manufacturers were Koenigsegg, Pagani, GTA Motor, Tushek Supercar, Noble, Roding Automobile, Savage, Fisker, Soleil Motors, MS Design, Mansory, Gembella, Hamann, Merdad Collection, MTM, DeLavilla, Pace-Insider Cars and Top Car as well as classics like Aston Martin, Ferrari and Jaguar. There was a huge increase in the number of motor bikes presented this year: DK Motorrad, Greber, Avinton, as well as electric bike from LITO Green Motion.

• Exhibition space for the show increased by 20% this year compared to 2011 – with an extra 500m² in the new Espace Diaghilev to accommodate the successful development of the prestigious watch, jewelry and luxury products element of the show.

• The Espace Ravel area exhibited 42 stands with nearly 60 car and bikes as well as a further 28 cars and bikes outside in the pits available for test drives. Therefore, the show hosted nearly 100 of the world’s most exclusive, state-of-the-art cars and bikes.

• The esplanade outside the venue displayed 6 superboats and there were 10 boats in the water in Port Fontvieille available for seatrials.

• The esplanade also displayed a life size model (8.5 metres high) of the prototype (Lynx SP-1). The European launch of the Space Expedition SXC spacecraft took place at Top Marques Monaco. The Dutch company - founded by businessman Michiel Mol proposes space travel into the thermoshphere. The spacecraft accomodates only two passengers. You travel with the pilot 103 km above earth. The trip takes one hour and costs $95,000. Flights start from the end of 2014 from the Curaçao island in the Caribbean. www.spacexc.com

• World premiere launch of the Savage Rivale ‘GTR’ (The Netherlands) - an ultra-light supercar (1030 kg). Only 69 will be hand built, securing its exclusivity. www.savagerivale.nl

• World premiere launch of the ‘Renovatio T 500’ from Tushek (Slovenia) the lightest supercar with a V8 engine. You can chase tornadoes with it! www.tushek.com

• The “Golden Dartz Kombat” from Dartz made an appearance in anticpation of its debut in the Paramount Pictures movie “THE DICTATOR” (French release: June, 20th). www.paramountpictures.fr(email PR Manager: Muriel_Kintziger@Paramount.com)

• The electric car, the Fisker Karma, with 400 horsepower was inspired by a conversation with the H.S.H. Prince Albert 11 of Monaco, who took the opportunity to sit in it during his visit to the show.

• Roding Automobile (Germany) presented its new model for its first test drive on a Grand Prix track. With a chassis entirely made of carbon fibre it is available in a sports or open top version it has a top speed of 285 km/hour.

• The Koenigsegg Agera R – BBC’s Top Gear Hyper Car of the Year and a Guinness Book of World Records holder was available for test drives. It does a thrilling 0-300 km/h in 14.53 seconds.

• Apollo Vredestein launched a brand new Ultra-High Performance summer tyre -designed by the renowned Italian designer Giugiaro. They hosted 300 of their dealers to the show.

• Mansory powerful engine performance enhancements and rare accessory details were displayed in models from Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Maserati and Rolls Royce

TOP MARQUES WATCHES

• Franck Muller presented its collection of superb, limited edition timepieces including the world’s biggest tourbillon, the “Giga Tourbillon” with a diameter of 20mm, taking up half of the watch; this tourbillon is twice as large as traditional tourbillons. In addition, on display was the “Double Mystery” watch, which reflects the colours of the four seasons using precious stones on a purple alligator strap. Prices on request.

• Roger Dubuis renowned for their expertise in the finest watchmaking mechanisms since 1995 presented a preview of their ‘Excalibur Double Tourbillon Skeleton’ watch, which comprises 585 diamonds on a beautiful alligator strap. Available for sale from October 2012 for 219,000 Euro. The ‘Velvet Collection’ watch, comprising diamonds and only gold (no steel) was also previewed in anticipation of its May launch. Roger Dubuis sponsored test drives at Top Marques Monaco and welcomed guests to their hospitality tent in the pits, allowing drivers to wear one of their stunning watches while taking a drive in one of the supercar on the Monaco F1 Grand Prix circuit.

• Backes & Strauss London – the world’s oldest diamond company since 1789 - presented a preview of their new watch, the “Diamond Jubilee Regent Collection”, which celebrates the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, 1952 – 2012. A limited series of 60 pieces will be produced and available for sale on 2nd June 2012. Each piece will be given a year of reign as a serial number. The royal colour purple features and with permission from the Lord Chamberlain’s Office in Buckingham Palace her Majesty’s Royal Cypher is used in the design of this unique and historical watch collection. 18kt White Gold hand set with one or two rows of ideal cut round brilliant diamonds; Open back of sapphire glass; purple alligator strap.

• For gentlemen wishing to jazz up their shirts while increasing its value STARDUST presented the Privé collection with buttons costing between 900-200 Euro for each button. They also had on display a 90ct diamond necklace made from the diamonds in a crown. Price tag: 225,000 Euro.

• Flacons of Hugo Boss Bottled Sport – the new fragrance from designer Hugo Boss who partnered up with F1 driver Jenson Button - was presented to VIP guests to the show.

TOP MARQUES SUPERBOATS

• Among the superboats visitors enjoyed powerful day boats, powerboats, tenders and luxury water toys. Brands exhibiting were Van Dutch, Spire Boat, Powerboat, Maori Yachts, Brita Marine, Hydrolift, EAMS Luxury Water Toys and Hunton, true artisans from the United Kingdom. The superboats displayed outside on the esplanade of the venue made a spectacular entrance to the car show in the Grimaldi Forum. Eight boats were available for sea trials, although rough seas curtailed some excursions.

• Britamarine – created especially for the Top Marques Monaco show a new limited edition of their boat in mahogany wood, the Britamarine R24 Blackwood Edition – 300 horsepower with a Mercury V8 engine on board.

• EAMS presented the Jetsurf, a motorized surf board, which obtains a top speed of 55km/h and weighs only 12 Kilos, making it easy to carry and travel with in standard luggage in the plane, car, boat or yacht.

• SpireBoat – considered the Ferrari of the seas thanks to its exceptional design and curves reaches a top speed of 90 knots/ 170 km/hour – your security and comfort are assured. Presented on their stand was the new model in collaboration with the celebrated designer Thierry Mugler – boats will be produced to order.
