The a. d TRAMONTANA starts his own history at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2005 where the car’s concept was presented in mock-up form in the Geneva motor show, as well as the Monaco Top Marques Fair in the same year.
In 2006, a.d. Tramontana presented the prototype of the TRAMONTANA with aluminium chassis in the very same Geneva Motor Show. As a result of the success of these presentations, the a.d. TRAMONTANA team finally decided on a technological level to develop a new model with a chassis and bodywork made completely out of carbon fibre, as well as a new suspension system and significant improvements to the aerodynamics.
In 2007, this new carbon fibre model was presented to the automotive world at the Geneva Motor Show. Authorisation and validation work was carried out throughout the year, and production began at the end of the year at the Manufacturing Technical Center (M.T.C) on the outskirts of Palau de Santa Eulàlia, a small town right on the Costa Brava, in the province of Girona (North-East Spain), where the vehicle is produced using completely traditional handcrafting methods.
Seeing an a.d TRAMONTANA on the high street, however, is not easy, as the European company is producing only 12 units a year. The Tramontana is not just another luxury sports car, it combines exclusivity and differentiation with the best materials and a handmade production.
The chassis:
The car has a 100 % carbon fibre monocoque chassis inspired in the design of a Formula 1 and manufactured with the same criteria, guaranteeing a high protection for its passengers. Moreover, it introduces a new structural system that combines an indeformable central zone (cockpit) with a weight of 128kg with other 8 deformable zones calculated for the absorption of the impact energy.
The bodywork:
All the pieces of the Tramontana car body are also elaborated in carbon fibre, assuring the maximum lightness of the vehicle with a total weight of 1.390 kg.
