A principal design objective was to generate the feeling of relaxed control, placing minimum demands on the driver. To help create this feeling, primary operating functions are close to hand and simply presented whilst secondary controls, those only required occasionally, appear on demand. In addition, the driver enjoys an optimum driving position, higher than most other cars, making the Rolls-Royce Phantom easy to place in everyday driving conditions. Meanwhile the rear seats are set slightly higher, giving rear passengers a good view over front occupant shoulder level, and to the side via generous window glazing. No Rolls-Royce would be complete without a very special interior. Even getting in and out of the Rolls-Royce Phantom is a unique experience, as rear-hinged coach doors allow passengers to step gracefully in or out of the rear of the motor car. Once inside, the spacious floor, gently curved lounge rear seat and the finest veneers and hides create a distinctive social environment. The design and engineering objectives for the Rolls-Royce Phantom have always been to produce a supreme motor car, an exciting and innovative expression of enduring Rolls-Royce values. Designed without compromise.
