ONEOFONEHUNDERED is a unique company that discovers and supports exciting and innovative designers and markets their exceptional and unique sculptural furniture through a worldwide network of galleries and strategic partners.
Following the launch of the business at the Top Marques Exhibition, Monaco in April 2008, interest in the business has been immense and has resulted in the creation of a global network of galleries and strategic partnerships, in London, Dubai, Monaco, New York, San Francisco, San Paulo, Moscow, Johannesburg and Sydney.
In 2009 ONEOFONEHUNDRED will be launching 'Indulgence' by the award winning designer Lukasz Opalinski together with new 2009 sculptural designs, created by its growing stable of designers including 'The Corkscrew' by Rob Higgs and 'Tarantula' by Jason Walker
'Indulgence', cast in highly polished bronze or aluminium, is a limited edition chaise longue, described by art critic Robin Dutt, as an iconic, futuristic, sculptural masterpiece that is sumptuously comfortable whilst also offering DesignArt investment opportunities.
'The Corkscrew' an ingenious, seven foot high mechanical sculpture comprised of almost 300 found objects which have been cast in bronze and assembled to create a priceless object trouvés. To many 'The Corkscrew' is reminiscent of a Heath Robinson design, however this is not only an amazing sculpture, but is a work of mechanical genius that has been designed and engineered to remove a cork from a bottle of wine and then to pour the wine under its own power..
'Tarantula' by Jason Walker a dramatic and imposing cast and polished aluminium table and chairs which is a winning combination of sculpture and functional form. Robin Dutt describes 'Tarantula' as "a table set on prone, semi-arched legs (almost ready to pounce), creating the impression of it being able to move"
ONEOFONEHUNDRED is proud of its commitment to only work with local artisans and craftsmen, who use valuable and exotic materials to painstakingly recreate the designs as limited editions of 100 (hence the company name). Ten editions of every ONEOFONEHUNDRED limited edition will be targeted into in each of ten international territories, of which the UK was the first to launch.
The genesis of each design is a critical part of its provenance, therefore the life story of the designer, the development of the design and the many processes that are required to enable its subsequent recreation as a valuable edition, are shared with clients through captivating film footage and complimented by a beautiful leather bound journal which accompanies each edition.
